What is the phone number for American Airlines retirees? ›

You can enroll in retiree medical coverage any time after retirement, up to the age of 65. Call the Benefits Service Center at 888-860-6178 if you miss the annual online retiree medical enrollment window. American reserves the right to amend or terminate the retiree medical plan at any time.

Retiree Travel: The 65 Point Plan

In order to qualify for travel under the 65 Point Plan, an employee who leaves the company must have a minimum of 10 years of service, and their age and length of service must equal 65.

Information for senior travelers

Early boarding is available if you need more time or assistance boarding. You must identify yourself to the gate agent to request early boarding. Wheelchair assistance is available to help with long distances at the airport.

"Normally, an employee and his or her immediate family members, partners, and/or a designated companion are entitled to complimentary space-available travel." Retired airline employees might also be eligible for such benefits, depending on how long they worked for the company.

For retirement eligibility, American Airlines uses standard and simplified criteria based on a 65 Point Plan. Simply put, you must have at least 10 years of company service and your age plus years of company service must equal 65 or more when you leave.

The infant must be under 2 years of age for the duration of the trip. If they turn 2 during a trip, they will need their own seat for the remainder of the trip.

If space is limited, the device doesn't fit in the cabin or if it isn't required during the flight, it may need to be checked.
